Oh, If I could only win the LOTTERY…

Last night I invited some friends over to watch the BCS Championship game, and in doing such I was explaining to them about Maven Investment Group and our blog MoneyIsJustAnIdea.  They were ranting about how they did not like their jobs and how upcoming job cuts could affect them.  Then one guy yells out, “IF I COULD ONLY WIN THE LOTTERY, I’ll be straight!”

But the truth is, your chances of winning the lottery are far smaller than you getting hit by lighting in an airplane twice!  Here at Maven Investment Group, we wish you prosperity and would be more than elated if you did win, but we have to be a little bit realistic.  To put your only effort to financial freedom in a couple lottery tickets every other week is just NOT enough.  So we say “Try something new.”  It’s a new year, new President, and we say give yourself a new source of income.  One of the biggest steps to financial freedom is having multiple streams of income.  So come up with a way to earn extra money.  It doesn’t have to be a lot of money and it doesn’t have to be daily but you do want it to be steady.  As the old adage goes, “if you do something well, don’t do it for free.”  So think about your talents or a task many people constantly call on for your assistance and make it into a business model.  Create some business cards and brochures, pass them out, and you would be surprised how many people will ask you for your products or services.

  1. So very trueful and eye opening I will keep this quote in sight, “if you do something well, don’t do it for free”. It doesn’t have to be a lot of money, just steady.

  4. Yeah, people who waste away their hard earned money in lotto tickets like an investment portfolio is pathetic. We definitely have to plan beyond the “hope money falls from the sky and saves me” creed. It’s about intelligent action. As I write this, we’re sure over $5 million dollars worth of lotto tickets have been purchased. smh
