All Hail King Twitter!

twitter

First I want to say, I think Twitter is the most ingenious social media website ever invented. It is better than Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and whoever else who wants to try. Why do I believe this? Before you start to jump out your seats, I am speaking of Twitter as king of the social media from a strictly business standpoint. Most people ask what is so cool about twitter? Why is my presence on the site a must have? Simple, as times shift, people are moving away from radios and televisions to strictly the internet. Anything you need can be found there. So where the eyeballs go, so should your presence, and these social sites are just full of people needing attention. Even though it doesn’t hurt to be on all the major social sites, I think Twitter has some special elements that are crucial to your business success:

1. Once you follow someone, you are forever engaged with their activities without having to click another button. It’s passive! All you have to do is open the webpage and the content starts pouring in. It’s similar to watching TV. When Facebook and Youtube first launched, you had to search for content which made it harder for someone to recognize your unknown brand. However, with twitter, you are following several hundred conversations, so it is more likely for someone to run across your tweets.

2. Please ReTweet!! Twitter’s culture promotes word of mouth. @ replies, trending topics, and retweets pushes people to share information. So there is a constant sharing of information and if you say something good, it can travel very far within a matter of hours. Retweeting someone’s information is the same as calling everyone in your phone book and telling them about an advertisement you heard on the radio. And when is the last time you heard of someone doing that to an radio ad!

3. The Who’s Who is on Twitter. Twitter is filled with celebrities, businessmen, entrepreneurs, lawyers, doctors, politicians, and so forth. This is the first social site that caught on amongst the best and brightest folk around. So you are able to learn from and talk with people who you will never been able to contact otherwise. Also, with twitter’s new “verified” function, you now know that you are following the right person!

So with that being said, if you have a business and not on twitter, you may want to rethink your hesitance. And If you need a place to start, you can follow me @ twitter.com/TheMoneyMaven!
